A lot of the people I work with are still functioning on the surface. They go to work. Reply to message. Take care of other people. But underneath that, they're exhausted.
My approach is shaped both by person-centered counseling training and by building a life here in Japan as a Black and Filipino husband and father. I know how isolating it can feel when the pressure becomes normal and you stop talking about how heavy things actually are.

A lot of people keep functioning long after they stop feeling okay.
They keep showing up. Keep responding. Keep getting through the day.
Meanwhile, something underneath starts wearing down quietly. Energy. Patience. The ability to feel fully present in their own life.
And because nothing has completely collapsed, they tell themselves it is probably not serious enough to talk about yet.
But you do not have to wait until things get unbearable before reaching for support.
My approach comes from both counseling training and from building a life here in Japan for a long time.
I know what it is like to keep functioning while carrying things that are difficult to explain to people outside that experience. The constant adjusting. The translation happening in your head all day. The pressure to keep everything moving even when you are exhausted.
A lot of people come to me because they want a space where they do not have to spend the first hour explaining why life here can feel complicated in ways that are hard to put into words.
They come to me because they are exhausted from navigating life in Japan, or because they are trying to unlearn the strict rules, generational trauma, and perfectionism they were raised with.
I combine traditional person-centered counseling with tools from hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and holistic energy work. What that means for you is that we have multiple ways to help you get unstuck, whether you need to talk things out logically, or work through deeper, unspoken emotional blocks.
I offer English-language counseling support for adults in Japan, and I do not diagnose mental health conditions or prescribe medication.
